Wow ! What a simply stunning cottage and location - it's like something from a Mills & Boons book - charming, romantic and totally dreamy ! The cottage is beautifully decorated and has everything you could possibly need or think of to make you feel right at home eg. telescope, picnic basket, firelighters, hot water bottles. It really is welcoming and totally relaxing. The weather was kind to us which showed off the glen at it's very best. The wildlife was unbelievable ! Loads and loads of deer - we could have watched them all day. We saw several large birds, but have no idea exactly what they were. Our dogs Jake & Holly had the best time ever, between playing in the rive at the bottom of the field and chasing wild smells in the glen ... they went home exhausted ! We had an absolutely wonderful time in Strathconnon and will definitely return to Creag Ruadh, can't rate it highly enough !!!
Just got home after our wonderful stay at creag ruadh cottage and we are already missing it. The cottage is very tastefully furnished and decorated with all the comforts of home. Enjoyed dawn and dusk the most when the red deer ventured from the hillside into the adjacent field. The dogs enjoyed the river at the bottom of the garden and the freedom of the fully enclosed and secure garden. We saw buzzard, sparrow hawk and siskins as well as the usual garden birds. We also saw golden eagles and sea eagles on a visit to the Inn at Melvaig near Gairloch and saw 100 plus pilot whales on a trip with ecoventures out from cromarty. A wildlife lovers paradise. We'll be back !!
Just to say thanks for a great stay. Lovely house with such tasteful modern décor. You were right too, everything you needed was there. I even got my Ipod to work with your stereo.
Will certainly consider it again, next time we are thinking of a Self Cater somewhere quiet.
Christmas 2006 was greeted by champers and a Christmas Tree at Creag Ruadh. We had the greatest of times, it was cold but that did not stop us exploring the outside even on Christmas Day.
If there was ever a place you should visit for fantastic surroundings and all the comforts of home. Then this is it!
We have had a wonderful holiday at Creag Ruadh.. The cottage is A+++++ there was not one thing missing everything you would ever need. The dogs have so enjoyed themselves and I am sure will miss the fantastic walks just outside the door. I think we covered most of the sightseeing but enjoyed the walks close to home, a must see is the walk up the mountain at the end of the glen breathtaking even in the mist.
Absolutely blown away by the scenery in the Glen. Made use of the picnic hamper at the end of the Glen, and had a proper day to remember. saw deer, falcons, wildcat, frogs...and seals on a dolphin cruise in the Moray Firth. Just getting used to relaxing when we had to go home. We hope to return - it is magical. Love the Cottage!
We found nothing but peace and quiet at this wonderful cottage, except of course the beautiful deer and wildlife, and the fantastic scenery an walks. A truly magical place. A huge thank you to Mrs J, who obviously works her socks off to present the cottage is such a cosy and beautifully clean condition. We couldn't have asked for better. Meg and Bracken enjoyed the garden immensely. we really wish we could have stayed longer...see you again!
We have been totally blown away! The Highlands of Scotland are truly magnificent. This is our second visit to Scotland, but this part wins hands down for natural beauty. The weather has been wonderful and the cottage has far exceeded our expectations. the fishing has been great, the people so warm and friendly, and the experience as a whole very relaxing.
Finally we have learned that we absolutely love Scotland and that our stay at Allan and Rose's cottage has been lovely....we thank you.
Really enjoyed our stay in this fabulous cottage. even the weather was largely very good. great to see so much wildlife up close...never seen so many deer!
Don't normally return to a holiday cottage, but there is a good chance we will make an exception in this case!
Superb accommodation with every known home comfort. We enjoyed the peace and tranquillity as well as the accessibility to wonderful open countryside. Our dogs loved the water and were swimming at every opportunity. The fine hot weather meant that they did not stay wet for long.
We went expecting to be besieged by midges but they were not a problem at Creag Ruadh as there was a gentle breeze down Strathconon on most days. We look forward to making further visits in future.
your cottage was wonderful. So good after a hard day on the mountains (we averaged about 20 mls
and cumulative 4-5,000' daily) to get back to the comfort and ease of such an incredibly well thought out, virtually nothing not provided for place, and such a fine setting ~ wonderful mountains both sides.
The valley beyond (all I could manage on last morning) is fabulous, like an illustration from an old guide book!
Enjoyed our stay at Creag Ruadh in a very relaxing and peaceful location. Everything you need in the cottage to make it home from home. Definitely recommend this cottage for seeing lots of wildlife in the area. Deer are in abundance and are often in your garden when you wake up in the morning. Excellent for walking in the glen and an ideal base for touring the highlands. This place is well worth a visit if you want to escape the normal day to day busy life. Look forward to our next visit.

Wonderful time in this lovely place, the cottage has everything you need, the views are fantastic, we walked a lot, then rested, and still managed a trip to the Outer Hebrides! A visit to the Glen Ord Distillery is a must, as is a bottle of their finest Malt!
A very well appointed and comfortable little cottage. Home from Home! The views are superb in all directions! The drive down the glen is breathtaking, and the overall location is great both for touring and getting away from it all. We'll be back again...and again!
As the first visitors to creag ruadh cottage, since being purchased and refurbished by the present owners. It was very warm and comfortable and well equipped in every way we found so much to see and do in the surrounding area, but the glen where the cottage is situated was fantastic with the deer, birds, and wildlife in general. A very tranquil place to be away from the hustle and bustle of every day life, we were very reluctant to leave this wonderful place. Ann/David.
